Pastor Dennis Fox was born September 11, 1962 at Fort Eustis, Virginia, and was raised in the home of Christian parents who loved the Lord and honored Him. He came to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was 7 and was later baptized. He accepted God’s call on him to preach on February 18, 1982. By God’s grace, He has been preaching the Bible for over 34 years. His first pastorate was that of youth pastor in Asheboro, NC, during his junior/senior year of college. After graduating from college in 1985 with a B.A. in Bible and a minor in Pulpit speech, he successfully planted a church in northeastern Pennsylvania and was its pastor in that rural area for six years. He then planted another church for the spread of the Gospel and was the pastor for five years. He then faithfully pastored another independent Baptist church for 12 years until their move here to Williamsburg. 2017 marks his 32nd year as a pastor.
In May of 2007, while attending the viewing and funeral service of a U.S. Marine killed in Iraq by enemy fire, God brought to bear upon the heart of Pastor Fox all of those serving voluntarily in our military. For the first time in his life, he stood and saw a young man who had willingly given his life for him and his country. These people are most amazing and special – but they need to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior – the Son of God who willingly gave His life to die for our sins on the cross of Calvary. And, the families need the support, encouragement, and love of Godly people here at home when their loved ones are deployed. Since September 11, 2001, the Fox family has prayed for the US Military that God will help them and keep them all safe – may God continue to do so.
God has burdened the heart of Pastor Fox for the need of an independent Baptist church near Williamsburg, and Ft. Eustis, Virginia. Having lived the same lifestyle growing up as a young boy here in Virginia and New Jersey, Pastor Fox understands the needs of our military families. God has also given Pastor Fox the ministry of Elder John Leland to help proclaim the message of God’s freedom in Jesus Christ here in Virginia. Elder Leland was the man who convinced James Madison to write a Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution.
Mrs. Ruth Fox was born September 8, in New London, Connecticut, and is the daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Duane Sweet who served the Lord in churches in Connecticut; Pennsylvania; Long Island, NY; and Michigan. She came to know the Lord Jesus as her Savior as a young girl and was baptized. God laid on her heart during her years in Bible college to be the wife of a Pastor. She spent her years in college preparing for the ministry that God would bring her to, and where she has labored faithfully for the past 25 years as the priceless help meet to her husband.
God has blessed the Foxes with four children, Sarah, Kyle, Andrew, Jared. Three have completed their homeschool education. All four serve the Lord in the ministry of the church in various areas.
In 2015 Harbor Baptist Church of Hampton, VA became our sending church to oversee, encourage and assist this greatly needed ministry. In addition, several churches in the Tidewater area are supporting us in prayer and labor to reach this area for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Through several events in the lives of the Fox family, there is no doubt that God has moved them here to the Williamsburg area to establish a church here for God’s glory!
