Hope for today and tomorrow . . .

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  II Corinthians 5:17

What a blessing to know that when we become a child of God, He not only forgives us of our sin, but our past is just that, it is past, gone forever!  Our past does not determine our future!

In Romans 8:1 we read, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  No condemnation!

In Hebrews 10:17 God tells us “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”  Why?  Because “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Because Jesus paid the price of all our sin, all our sin is forgiven, cleansed, remembered by God no more!  The pages of tomorrow are clean and our past days do not need to be a burden to us today.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”  I Corinthians 2:9-10  God loves us, His people, and He has wonderful things prepared for us in this life in His Word and wonderful things prepared for us in eternity!

There is HOPE for today and tomorrow!  God is faithful and He keeps His Word.  He does not fail.

Here is a select list of God’s Hope in His Word:

“For the Lord will not forsake His people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.”  I Samuel 12:22

“He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”  Psalm 23:3

“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.  It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.  The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.  It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.”  Lamentations 3:21-26

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.
